Swiss Chocolate Giant Barry Callebaut Expands to Morocco, Marking First African Venture

The Swiss group Barry Callebaut, specialized in the manufacture of chocolate products, has chosen Morocco for its first establishment in Africa. The manufacturer has just announced, this Tuesday, the signing of a long-term agreement with Attelli, a distributor and confectionery manufacturer based in Casablanca.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Zurich-based chocolatier will acquire Attelli’s manufacturing assets and conclude a long-term supply agreement for chocolate coating paste. This partnership allows the company to better meet local demands and accelerate its expansion in North Africa, according to a group press release.
Speaking on the occasion, Attelli’s CEO, Hadrien Devichi, said that "thanks to this agreement, we can expand our product portfolio to the highest international quality standards and offer our customers a wider range in Morocco and beyond." The two parties have agreed not to disclose any other terms of the agreement.
