Salmonella Scare: Morocco Recalls Kinder Chocolate Products Over Contamination Concerns

Batches of Kinder chocolates would have been contaminated by the Salmonella bacteria, prompting the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) to decide to withdraw several products.
In a statement, ONSSA indicated that "due to a suspicion of infection with the Salmonella Typhimurium bacterium, responsible for food poisoning, certain batches of the Kinder brand of chocolates have been withdrawn from sale".
These are Kinder Surprise 20 g (individually, in packs of three, four and six) and 100 g with expiration dates between late June 2022 and late October 2022. On the ONSSA list, there are also Kinder Schoko-Bons with expiration dates between late April and late August 2022, Kinder Mini Eggs with expiration dates between late April and late August, and Kinder Happy Moments, Kinder Mix with expiration dates at the end of August 2022.
Faced with the suspicion of contamination, the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) has decided to strengthen the control of all Ferrero company products at import in order to prevent the introduction of batches of these products on the domestic market. All batches of the products concerned will be immediately withdrawn from the distribution circuit at the level of importers and retail outlets.
ONSSA invites consumers not to buy the products whose references have been mentioned and asks people who have bought them in reserve to throw them away immediately.
