The lifeless body of a Moroccan was found in the Rhône in the middle of the week. Two individuals, suspected of having thrown the victim from a bridge after an altercation, were arrested and taken into custody.

An altercation that turns into a tragedy. In a press release, the Lyon prosecutor’s office said that two individuals were taken into custody after the death of a man thrown into the Rhône from a bridge in the city during the night of Saturday to Sunday. "At the end of the custody, two people will be referred tomorrow [this Saturday, editor’s note] to the public prosecutor’s office of the Lyon judicial court with a view to the opening of a judicial investigation on charges of voluntary homicide, for the first, and of non-prevention of a crime and non-assistance to a person in danger for the second," it specified.

The investigation and exploitation of the city’s video surveillance reveal that the events took place at 2 a.m. on the night of June 12 to 13, in the 7th arrondissement. The victim would have been deliberately thrown from the Guillotière bridge, which spans the Rhône, following an altercation, reports Ouest France. The prosecutor’s office added that the investigations carried out by the Rhône departmental security service led to the placement in custody of individuals suspected of being involved in these events. It also indicated that the body of the victim had been found on June 16 in the Rhône. The victim would be a Moroccan homeless person.

The departmental security service has issued an appeal for witnesses to gather any useful testimony for the investigation.
