Suspect’s Home Searched in Murder of Elderly French Tourist in Morocco

The police elements carried out a search of the home of the alleged murderer of a French tourist in Agadir. Computer equipment and medical prescriptions were found.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening following the murder of "a 79-year-old French national residing in a campsite near the city of Tiznit", south of Agadir. It was the investigations carried out by the police that allowed the rapid arrest of the suspect, notes the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Since his arrest, the police have been trying to determine the motive for the crime, explains Barlamane. Pending the search of the home to guide them further, the theory of the killer’s mental illness is reinforced at this stage.
According to the preliminary data from the investigation opened on Saturday morning, the suspect killed the victim "with a sharp object while she was at the municipal market in Tiznit", the DGSN said. It adds that the track of a botched robbery is not ruled out. The suspect is suspected of having committed "premeditated murder and attempted murder", according to the same source.
