Morocco Calls French Tourist’s Murder in Tiznit an ’Isolated Act’

Faced with the controversy sparked by the murder of a French woman in Tiznit, aimed at tarnishing Morocco’s image, the government has reacted, referring to an "isolated act".
During the press conference held at the end of the weekly government council, government spokesman Mustapha Baitas reacted to the assassination of a foreign national.
"These acts happen everywhere in the world and not just in our country. Here we are talking about an isolated act that can happen and is related to the psychological state of the person who committed this crime," he said.
To recall, a French tourist was murdered a week ago in a market in Tiznit with a sharp weapon. Subsequently, the 31-year-old suspect attempted to assassinate a Belgian national in Agadir. Following the events, the Moroccan justice system ordered his placement in a psychiatric hospital and the opening of an investigation for terrorism.
In addition, France and Belgium have opened investigations respectively for "assassination in connection with a terrorist enterprise", and "attempted assassination in a terrorist context".
