Moroccan Police Bust International Phone Theft Ring: France-Morocco Sting Recovers Stolen Devices

Six individuals, suspected of belonging to a network specializing in the fencing of stolen goods, were brought before the Casablanca public prosecutor’s office by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ). They are suspected of having sold in Morocco mobile phones stolen during an armed robbery committed in France last February.
The investigation conducted by the BNPJ led to the arrest of a total of six people. Among them are two merchants, arrested respectively in Marrakech and Rabat, as well as four other suspected accomplices involved in the smuggling and sale of the stolen products.
The technical investigations led to the seizure of 31 mobile phones formally identified as coming from the loot of an armed robbery that had targeted a mobile phone store in France. Many other smuggled electronic equipment, the origin of which is being verified, were also seized during the interventions.
This case was solved within the framework of the bilateral cooperation on security matters between the services of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the French National Police, illustrating the coordination between the two countries in the fight against transnational crime.
