Survivor Rescued After Deadly Building Collapse in Casablanca, Search Continues

A man was extracted, this Friday, January 8, from the rubble, a few hours after the collapse of a dilapidated house in Derb Moulay Cherif in Casablanca. Subject to a demolition order, it collapsed, causing 1 death.
The man pulled from the rubble is still alive. He was evacuated to a hospital to receive the necessary care. 3 other members of the same family are still under the rubble. The civil protection services are still active on the spot to rescue other survivors. The deceased was a pedestrian, who died from his injuries.
"Around 7:45 a.m., part of this house collapsed," says a resident of the neighborhood. "With other neighbors, we helped the residents get out. But a quarter of an hour later, the whole building collapsed," he added.
