Fatal Collision on Marrakech-Casablanca Highway Leaves 1 Dead, 35 Injured in Morocco

A traffic accident occurred in the commune of Sidi El Mekki, in the province of Berrechid, resulting in the death of a truck driver and 35 other injured. The details of the tragedy were provided by the local authorities of the province of Berrechid, this Thursday in a press release.
The toll of this traffic accident is quite heavy and results from the collision between a passenger bus and a truck, on the highway connecting Marrakech and Casablanca. Informed, the local authorities, the security services and those of Civil Protection went to the scene of the accident. Thus, thanks to the necessary measures taken, the people who had minor injuries were transported to the regional hospital of Berrechid to receive the necessary care. The others, numbering 7, with more serious injuries, were transferred to the university hospital center of Casablanca.
The collision would be due to the lack of visibility, accentuated by the intense fog on the highway. An investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to determine the circumstances of the accident and establish responsibilities.
