Survey: Moroccan Support for Israel Normalization Wanes, Still Highest in MENA Region

In total, 31% of Moroccans say they are in favor of the agreement to normalize diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel. This is revealed by an Arab barometer survey conducted in the MENA region.
This survey entitled "Public Views on US-China Competition in MENA" focuses on several questions related to the global competition between the United States and China. In eight of the nine countries surveyed, less than one in five, or one person in five, approves of the normalization agreements with Israel, including less than one in ten in Mauritania (8%), Libya (7%), Palestine (6%), Jordan (5%) and Egypt (5%), details the report.
In total, 31% of Moroccan citizens are in favor of these agreements "probably in part because the United States has officially recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara at the time of the announcement of normalization," says Arab Barometer. Compared to June 2021 where the rate is 41%, it is noted that Moroccans are less favorable to these agreements. A drop of 10 points.

In Sudan, 39% are in favor of these agreements. This is justified by the fact that the country benefits from significant debt relief and the removal of its state sponsor of terrorism status by the United States in exchange for its normalization agreement.
