Support for Morocco-Israel Ties Plummets, Survey Finds

Fewer and fewer Moroccans approve of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel. This is revealed by a survey by the Arab Barometer.
Moroccan support for the normalization of diplomatic relations with Israel has fallen over the past two years, from 30% in 2022 to 13% currently. These are partly the conclusions of a survey conducted by the Arab Barometer network, in collaboration with the Moroccan Institute for Policy Analysis (MIPA, a Moroccan think tank), the results of which were presented by its Director of Political Communication, Mohamed Abu Falgha, during a press conference on Friday in Rabat.
47% of respondents think that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu is "not at all" committed to the two-state solution (Palestine and Israel). Only 24% of Moroccans believe that the Israeli people are convinced of this solution.
Since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas, many Moroccans and political parties have expressed their support for Palestine and called on Morocco, which restored its diplomatic relations with the Hebrew state in December 2020 under the aegis of the United States in exchange for the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara, to cut ties with Tel Aviv as the kingdom had done in 2000 in reaction notably to Israel’s brutality during the second Intifada.
