Study Finds Toxic Ingredients in Popular Cosmetics Sold in Morocco

Cosmetic products from some major brands and mass market brands sold in Morocco are toxic. This is revealed by a study conducted in France by the magazine 60 million consumers.
The sample covers 86 products from major brands and mass market brands: toothpastes, shower gels, moisturizing creams, shaving foams, foundations, etc. From A ("without reservation of use"), these products have gone to E ("strongly discouraged use, product containing too many problematic substances") depending on the impact of the ingredients on health (70% of the score) and on the environment (30% of the score).
The products concerned are shower gels or creams from the Carrefour, Dop or Weleda brands that contain coumarin, a substance "suspected of being carcinogenic-mutagenic-reprotoxic". Dove products are also affected. The brand is criticized for having used Lilial (butylphenyl methylpropional) which is "toxic for reproduction".
According to the explanations of Adélaïde Robert, the head of the health-cosmetics department of the magazine, the idea of these evaluations is to push the industrialists to do better.
