Struggling Sevilla Face Dortmund in Champions League as Sampaoli Debuts

Sevilla FC will face Borussia Dortmund this Tuesday as part of the Champions League. Moroccans Yassine Bounou and Youssef En-Nesyri will play their first match under the new coach, Jorge Sampaoli.

With a series of defeats and draws that led to the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui last week, Sevilla FC, which has had a difficult start to the season, hopes to get back on track with the arrival of Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli. The club faces Borussia Dortmund in the return match this Tuesday, after losing 1-4 at home last Wednesday.

With only one win in eleven games, Seville is ranked 18th in La Liga with 6 points and is 3rd in Group G of the Champions League with 1 point, tied with Copenhagen with whom they drew 0-0, and far behind Dortmund (5 points) and Manchester City (8 points).

Since his arrival at the head of the Seville team, Jorge Sampaoli obtained a draw at home on Saturday against Athletic Bilbao in a friendly. The Argentine coach has focused in these few days on the morale of the players psychologically affected. Against Dortmund, the team will have to regain self-confidence, as well as its technical level of play to carry out rapid and accurate attacks in the opposing camp.

Sampaoli, fully aware of the current level of the team, does not see the match against Dortmund as an "obstacle", but rather as an opportunity for improvement. The coach does not yet know if the Moroccan Yassine Bounou, injured on Saturday, will be in goal. In attack, we will certainly have Óliver Torres, Seville’s top scorer with 3 goals, and perhaps the Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri.
