Strasbourg Rental Bikes Mysteriously Appear in Morocco, Sparking Debate

The presence in Morocco of a "vélhop", the name of the bicycle rental service in Strasbourg, has elicited many reactions from Internet users. Some speak of theft while others mention a donation to local associations.
The photo was taken in Casablanca and posted on the Facebook page of Télé Maroc. It shows a man transporting two vélhops, but the origin and destination of the bicycles are unknown. Some are already talking about theft and shipment to Morocco via Spain.
This is not the first time that a bicycle has disappeared in France before being found miraculously in Morocco. Last year, a GPS chip placed on a bicycle allowed it to be found several months later in Casablanca and, at the same time, led to the dismantling of a large stolen bicycle trafficking network.
In the case of this bicycle, it had nevertheless been resold on a classified ad site in Morocco. The unfortunate new owner had the choice between cooperating with the company to trace back to the seller or facing legal proceedings. The assistance and help of this medical student allowed the discovery of a "depot where hundreds of bicycles of foreign origin were stored, with only one copy of each model" and whose origin was more than questionable.
A new bicycle was provided to the former owner, while the young Moroccan was able to keep his thanks to his collaboration with the company’s investigators. The police were of course notified.
