Al Jazeera Mistakenly Identifies Moroccan Actress as Saddam Hussein’s Granddaughter

Al Jazeera, the famous Qatari TV channel, published on its Facebook page, on Thursday, February 14, a photo of Moroccan actress Loubna Abidar (known for her film "Much Loved"), confusing her with Hareer Hussein Kamel, the granddaughter of the former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein. The post was removed after the mockery of Internet users.
Loubna Abidar would be the daughter of Raghad Hussein, herself the eldest daughter of the former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, according to a Facebook post by the television channel Al Jazeera. Next to the photo of Loubna Abidar, there were many details about the life of Hareer Hussein Kamel, Saddam Hussein’s granddaughter, and generally about the life of her family after the fall, in March 2003, of Saddam Hussein, executed by hanging in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, on December 30, 2006.
However, Moroccan subscribers to Al Jazeera’s Facebook page did not take long to recognize Loubna Abidar and mock the channel.
The post was then deleted and replaced by another containing an old photo of the former Iraqi president with his daughters. But the Internet users were not fooled and continued to ridicule the Qatari channel. Some even demanded "the return of Loubna Abidar".
The screenshots continue to go viral despite the correction of the error by Al Jazeera.
