Stranded Moroccans in France Feel Abandoned as Consulate Cuts Communication
Wednesday 6 May 2020, by
The situation of Moroccans is deplorable, and the Moroccan consulate no longer answers our calls. This is the heartfelt cry of a Moroccan national, stranded in France since the closure of borders by the Moroccan government.
"We no longer have any information about the fate of the hundreds of Moroccan citizens stranded in France, since the consular authorities have cut off all communication," he confided.
"Even the Moroccan government no longer mentions our case in its media appearances, and makes no effort to get us out of this inextricable situation," he indignantly said in a video posted on social media, claiming to feel deprived of his nationality.
The hundreds of people stranded feel abandoned, while "all other countries have repatriated their compatriots, including nearly 200,000 French nationals," he said indignantly.
For lack of means, he said, the Moroccan consulates in France had only provided accommodation for some of the citizens, forcing the others to find shelter in hotels or with relatives in France.
