Stranded Moroccan Father Dies of Asthma in Philippines Amid Travel Restrictions

A Moroccan national, stranded in the Philippines since the closure of international borders, died last Wednesday from complications related to his health condition.
In a video published before his death, the young man, married to a Filipino and father of 2 children, said he had arrived in the Philippines from the United Arab Emirates, his country of residence, to regularize the administrative documents of his children.
Without money and forced to be confined in a foreign country, Younes Zebdi and his small family found themselves in a very difficult situation that forced him to appeal to his family and friends to help him pay the rent. His health condition has unfortunately deteriorated seriously since he stopped his asthma treatment.
At the Moroccan embassy in the Philippines, he was told that he was not eligible for the financial assistance granted by the State, as his name did not appear on the list of people stranded in the country.
