Stellantis Expands Production of Award-Winning Engine to Morocco Plant

To meet growing demand, Stellantis will increase production of its 3-cylinder turbocharged PureTech gasoline engine. The automotive group has decided to expand its production by integrating new assembly lines at its plant in Kénitra, Morocco.
Located in the Atlantic Free Zone free trade area, this plant was inaugurated in 2019. It plays a major role in Stellantis’ strategy for the Africa-Middle East region. The PureTech engine, recognized for its performance and efficiency, has been awarded several times as the "International Engine of the Year".
It is used in a large number of group vehicles, particularly models from the Opel and Vauxhall brands. Stellantis has already produced 3.8 million units of this engine in its various plants around the world.
In addition to the Moroccan site, the PureTech is also assembled in France, in Douvrin and Trémery, as well as in China, Poland and Hungary. The objective of this expansion is to meet the strong demand for this engine.
Stellantis plans to reach a production capacity of 460,000 engines per year in Kénitra in the short term. The group is counting on the plant’s advanced technologies and a high-performance logistics network to achieve this.
