This stealthy Russian submarine that is of great interest to the Royal Moroccan Navy

The competition is intensifying to provide Morocco with its first combat submarine. According to the specialized website 19FortyFive, the Kingdom is among the countries studying the Russian offer in parallel with the European proposals, as part of a strategic reflection aimed at strengthening its naval deterrence. The Amur-1650, the export version of the Lada project, is presented as a modern 1,765-ton vessel, stealthy and highly automated, capable of firing torpedoes and cruise missiles.

However, this option carries major risks. The analysis highlights the "fragility" of the Russian offer compared to the German or French alternatives, which enjoy proven reliability. The Amur program suffers from chronic delays and has not yet been delivered for export, with Moscow desperately seeking a first customer to validate its product.

Beyond the technical aspect, the geopolitical context weighs heavily. International sanctions and doubts about Russia’s ability to provide long-term logistical support complicate the equation. While financial considerations may play in favor of Moscow, Rabat remains completely silent on its intentions, having to arbitrate between technical performance and the political stability of the supplier.
