US State Department Eyes Morocco as Key Player in Gaza Reconstruction Efforts

The US State Department considers Morocco as one of the countries that can play an active role in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Morocco has always been in favor of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The kingdom has constantly called for the formation of an international coalition to rebuild the Palestinian state. According to the American newspaper "The Hill", Sander Gerber and Robert Wexler, members of the US State Department’s advisory council, indicated in a report that the kingdom is among the countries that can participate in the reconstruction of Gaza.
The two American officials reiterated their country’s commitment to strengthening its alliances with its Arab partners, including Morocco, in order to achieve the peace process in the Middle East, and to end Iran’s destabilizing role in the region which, according to the report by Gerber and Wexler, is a financial supporter and ally of Hamas. Finally, the two members of the US State Department called for a ceasefire and the construction of a Palestinian state "without violent means".
