Spice Girl’s Moroccan Wedding: Mel B’s Sentimental Journey and Fiery Mermaid Moment

The 50-year-old British singer, dancer and actress Melanie Brown, alias Mel B, explains why she chose Morocco for the second ceremony of her marriage to 37-year-old hairstylist Rory McPhee, co-founder of several salons, after the London stage.
"It was the last place I spent a vacation with my father before his death. [...] It’s a very special place for me," Mel B confided in an interview with the New York Post. Her father Martin Brown died of multiple myeloma in 2017 at the age of 63. In an Instagram post, the singer had announced the sad news. "It is with immense sadness that our beloved father, Martin Brown, passed away peacefully yesterday at the age of 63, after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma. His two children and we were by his side and we would like to thank St. Gemma’s Hospital as well as all the doctors and nurses for their exceptional care and support over the years. [...] Dad, be free," she had written on March 5, 2017. Beyond this moving reason, the interpreter of "Wannabe" is a lover of the Moroccan destination. "The culture, the food, the people, everything, and the music. It’s a true paradise," she assured.
After being married at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London (United Kingdom) on July 5, Mel B and her partner Rory McPhee said "yes" a second time during a sumptuous ceremony at the five-star Selman Hotel in Marrakech on August 3. On this occasion, the former Spice Girl opted for a long red strapless dress designed by Justin Alexander. The making of this piece with coral and red tones and a few shiny touches required 850 hours of work. Why the choice of this magical dress? "As the sun was setting, I wanted to look like a floating mermaid - a fiery, passionate red mermaid - gliding in ruby diamonds. [...] Morocco has that very red va-va-voom - it’s passionate and spiritual," the bride explained.
Her husband was dressed in a suit consisting of a white jacket and elegant black pants. Mel B and Rory were accompanied by their loved ones, including Phoenix, 26, Angel, 18, best man, and Madison, 13, bridesmaid, Melanie’s three children from previous relationships, as well as her sister Danielle Brown and the groom’s family. Melanie C, Melanie’s colleague from the Spice Girls, was also among the guests. She had not been able to attend the St. Paul’s ceremony due to professional commitments related to her major tour. "It was great to have my northern compatriot Mel C there. We had a great time together and completely forgot ourselves and went crazy when Holler came on," the bride rejoiced.
She added: "We grew up together, my whole family loves her and sharing this weekend with her and her lovely partner Chris was so special." The guests were seated at a long dining table bathed in red light in the hotel’s park, reported The Sun. They were served dinner on fine porcelain with quality cutlery. The drinks were poured into crystal glasses. They dined outdoors.
