Spanish Track Star Mohamed Katir Eyes European Championship Medal in Munich
Mohamed Katir hopes to win a medal at the next European Championships in Munich. The athlete of Moroccan origin, record holder of the 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 meters in Spain, is "afraid of no one".
Mohamed Katir is preparing for the next European Championships in Munich. His goal is to win a medal in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters at this competition and to win the world title in the 1,500 meters or the 5,000 meters.
"I get up at 8:40 am. I eat, I take a nap and in the afternoon I run again. Now I don’t do many kilometers anymore...", he explains in an interview with Sport. The triple Spanish record holder is mentally ready for all competitions. "I have a stronger mentality than before, I have confidence in myself and I’m afraid of no one. If I’m on the track, it’s always to try to win and give a hundred percent," he assures.
Katir insisted that he is Spanish, even though he is of Moroccan origin. "I feel Spanish, I’ve been here all my life, even though I was born in Morocco. I don’t care what people say that I wasn’t born here or that I don’t have to take the flag. The one who runs is me, not someone else. If I represent a country, it’s because I’m proud," he said.
