Spanish Police Capture Moroccan Fugitive Wanted for Murder and Trafficking
Thursday 1 June 2023, by
A man wanted by Morocco was arrested by the Spanish police in Tarragona, in the north of the country, following an international arrest warrant issued by the public prosecutor’s office of the Court of Appeal of Nador.
The man is accused of serious crimes, including homicide, belonging to a criminal organization, drug and human trafficking, and illegal importation of weapons. His capture was made possible after agents of the Fugitive Group of the Spanish police identified him following the publication of an advertisement on a website.
The police, having recognized the fugitive, organized surveillance that led to his arrest when he tried to sell a vehicle in Tarragona. The man appeared, accompanied by a woman, at a gas station on the N-240 road, where he had set up a meeting with a potential buyer. The agents discreetly followed the suspect until the gas station.
The individual arrived at the gas station with a different vehicle than the one advertised and, probably suspicious, he offered the potential buyer to follow him to another location. The investigators then proceeded to arrest him before he could leave the premises. Subsequently, it was discovered that the arrested individual had a ban on entry into Germany for violence and possession of weapons, adding an offense to his already well-stocked record. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the investigating judge of the Central Court number 1 of Tarragona, who must rule on his extradition to Morocco.
