Spanish Police Bust Major European Cocaine Ring, Arrest 'Mocro Mafia' Members

The Spanish National Police, in collaboration with the Swedish police, the French OFAST and the Dutch police, dismantled a very active drug trafficking network in Europe. In total, five people were arrested in Spain, including two members of the Mocro mafia, the Moroccan mafia.

Moroccan Fikri Amellah is one of the two members of the Mocro mafia involved in this large cocaine trafficking network. He is currently serving a sentence for other acts, the police say. As for the second, Swede Jonas Sture Falk, he was arrested in Ibiza on June 30. He has been residing in Barcelona for more than a decade and is considered one of the biggest cocaine traffickers in Europe, according to Estrella Digital.

Nicknamed the "Swedish Pablo Escobar" in Colombia, where his wife is from, Jonas Sture Falk is little known in Spain. In 2010, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison for drug trafficking, but was released in 2014 after appealing the decision. The Swede uses luxury yachts to transport cocaine from Colombia to Spain. He was also arrested in 2019, but was released.

In recent years, he has cooperated with Andrés Murillo Figueroa, a drug trafficker who worked for Pablo Escobar and would continue to direct the cocaine traffic in Medellín (Colombia). Last year, the Spanish police seized 1,623 kilos of cocaine transported from Colombia on a sailboat and found in a garage in the heart of the city of Huelva. The goods belonged to the Colombian and were to be distributed in Spain by Sture.
