Spanish Police Bust Mocro Maffia-Linked Drug Ring in Marbella, Seize 873 Kilos of Cocaine

The Spanish police dismantled in Marbella an international drug trafficking network with links to the Mocro Maffia, the Moroccan mafia specialized in drug trafficking and organized crime. In total, five people were arrested and 873 kilos of cocaine seized.
The five members of this network, believed to be close to the Mocro Maffia, were arrested in the parking lot of a shopping center in Marbella while transferring drugs into a van in which a cargo of 759 cocaine packages was found, according to the official website of the Spanish Ministry of the Interior. After their arrest, the drug traffickers were brought before the competent judge, who ordered their provisional detention.
Their arrest follows an investigation that began in August 2024, in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) office. The investigators suspected a criminal organization of introducing large quantities of cocaine into Spain from Ecuador via the port of Algeciras. After monitoring the network’s activities, they managed to seize a cargo that arrived at the Andalusian port from that country.
The investigations made it possible to identify the persons in charge of receiving the cargo in Spain and to discover that they are members of a criminal organization linked to the Mocro Maffia, very active in Malaga. The 759 cocaine packages weighing 873 kilos were seized, as well as 5,690 euros in cash, 12 mobile phones (some of them encrypted) and three high-end vehicles.
The police also issued three international arrest warrants against certain members of the criminal organization, including one of its leaders, in charge of operational logistics. This operation was carried out with the support of EUROPOL and the European Union. The objective is to fight terrorism and organized crime in Europe and to protect European citizens.
