Mocro Maffia Link Emerges in Costa del Sol Murder of Dutch Student

The Spanish police are continuing their investigation into the murder of a young Dutchman on the Costa del Sol, which occurred on the night of December 6 to 7, 2024. A third suspect, a woman believed to be close to the Mocro Maffia, has just been arrested.

The victim, a student from Zwolle, was shot dead at the end of last year in Fuengirola, a popular seaside resort located between Malaga and Marbella. The young man had decided to take a break in Spain and was working part-time to finance his stay. On the night of December 6 to 7, gunshots were heard. The young man was hit several times, including in the head. He died on the spot, reports Diario Sur.

The murder of the student has caused great concern within the Dutch community of the Costa del Sol. According to the victim’s family, the young man had no connection to criminal activities. They are convinced that their son was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. However, the woman arrested on Tuesday in connection with this case is close to a criminal network linked to the Mocro Maffia, the Moroccan mafia active in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of this murder. The Spanish authorities are trying to find out if the arrested woman acted alone or was part of a criminal network, and to confirm whether the young man was killed by mistake or found himself involved in a settling of scores between rival gangs. For their part, the victim’s relatives "are happy that the investigation is progressing" and hope, with the arrests, "to understand how this could have happened".
