Spanish Pilot Sentenced to 4 Years for Drug Trafficking Crash Near Tangier

The Court of First Instance in Tangier last Friday sentenced the Spanish pilot who transported a large quantity of drugs to Spain and whose plane had crashed on the road connecting Sebt Zinnat and Dar Chaoui on November 30, 2021, to four years in prison.
In addition to the prison sentence, Ignacio, a young Spanish pilot - a third-year student at World Aviation - must pay a fine of 10,000 DH and pay 5 million dirhams in damages to the Moroccan customs, or nearly 500,000 euros, reports Al Akhbar. The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie had arrested him on November 30 after he attempted an emergency landing southeast of Tangier.
The plane had taken off near a residential area on the road connecting Sebt Zinnatt and Dar Chaoui near Tangier, but crashed after hitting a garbage truck. A garbage truck driver, his companion, an employee of a household waste collection company, as well as an employee of a cooperative in the rural commune of Sabt Zeinat, are also involved in this case.
