Spanish Navy Deploys Patrol Boat to Melilla Waters Amid Tensions with Morocco

The Spanish Navy sent the patrol boat Furor (P-46) to the waters of Melilla last Wednesday, after the "intrusion" of a Moroccan patrol boat in the area. An action welcomed by Eduardo de Castro, the president of the autonomous city.
De Castro appreciated the decision of the Ministry of Defense and the Navy to dispatch a patrol boat to the waters near Melilla, stressing that it is "a wink" in favor of the autonomous city after the recent provocations of Morocco.
The president of Melilla said he had not addressed this issue with any ministry. "It seems that things have calmed down," he added, however denouncing "this harassment of Melilla’s boats" by Morocco which "acts discreetly" and "when it deems it appropriate" as in this case.
