Spanish-Moroccan Runner Fatima Ouhaddou Clinches Silver in Spanish Half Marathon, Secures World Cup Spot

The Spanish athlete of Moroccan origin, Fatima Ouhaddou, won the silver medal in the road half marathon in Spain that took place in the Valencian city of Paterna. She thus earns a place in the World Cup.
Fatima Ouhaddou from the Amo Allá de Aguilar club (Córdoba) put in a great performance in this competition, even though the Moroccan Majida Maayouf from the Bilbao Athletics club, and Meritxell Soler had more rhythm and took nine seconds ahead of her and Laura Méndez.

In the final stretch of the competition, Fatima managed to overtake Laura Méndez, thus winning a silver medal with a time of 1:12:44, the best performance of her career. The victory went to Meritxell with a time of 1:12:13, reports Cordopolis.
In addition to the titles of Spanish champions, the event also awarded places for the world half marathon to be held in November in Yangzhou (China). Fatima wants to participate in it, as she was just a few seconds away from reaching the minimum time required for that competition (1:12:30 for women).
The final word goes to the technical management of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, which will have to confirm or not her participation in this world championship.
