Spanish Foreign Minister’s Morocco Visit Postponed Ahead of PM Sanchez Trip

José Manuel Albares, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, will not come to Rabat this Friday, April 1st, to meet his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita as planned. This meeting has been canceled due to the upcoming visit of the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, to Morocco. The head of Spanish diplomacy will be part of the delegation.
The meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Morocco and Spain, Nasser Bourita and José Manuel Albares respectively, initially scheduled for this Friday, April 1st, has been postponed until the visit of the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, indicates a press release from the Spanish Embassy in Rabat. This postponement follows a telephone conversation between the President of the Spanish Government and King Mohammed VI. During this conversation, the sovereign invited Pedro Sanchez to make an official visit to Morocco "in the very near future".
It is planned that the head of Spanish diplomacy will be part of the delegation of the President of the Spanish Government. "This is why they have agreed that the meeting scheduled" this Friday, April 1st, 2022, in Rabat between the two Foreign Ministers, will take place as part of this upcoming visit of the President of the Government," the same source emphasizes.
