Spanish Far-Right Leader Compares Moroccan King to Putin Amid Border Crisis

Santiago Abascal, leader of the Spanish far-right formation Vox, took advantage of the debate on the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Wednesday to compare the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, to Vladimir Putin.
"A satrap (editor’s note: powerful despot) has once again perceived the fragility of our government and our institutions, like Putin," denounced Abascal, referring to the assault of more than 2,000 people on the Melilla border from Morocco, according to Europa Press.
The leader of the far-right formation believes that the debate on security and borders that took place in the Spanish Congress on Ukraine should also have served as an opportunity to highlight the serious problems of Spain at its borders with Morocco. The man has once again called for the deployment of the army at the borders of Ceuta and Melilla to "defend the territorial integrity and security of citizens."
However, Abascal took care to distinguish between refugees from Ukraine and those trying to come from Morocco. "This is not discrimination, we distinguish between those who are refugees and those who are not. Those who are at war must be welcomed and not the waves of men sent in a premeditated way to destabilize nations and attack borders."
