Seville Mosque Hosts Open House, Counters Far-Right Leader’s Islamophobic Comments

In reaction to the racist remarks of the leader of the far-right party VOX, Santiago Abascal, the officials of the AlHidaya mosque in Seville organized an open house day during which they offered "tea and smiles" to all visitors.
The arrest in Morocco of the son of an imam has, as one might expect, provoked a very strong reaction from the VOX leader, who questioned the teachings provided by this mosque. "What are the mosques teaching in Seville so that the son of an imam intends to carry out a massacre during Holy Week?"
According to the Iberian media, this Tuesday, April 23 between 7pm and 9:30pm, the AlHidaya mosque in Seville welcomed about a hundred people from all religions, who came to listen to the explanations given by the imams on site, in response to Abascar’s racist remarks.
Known for his hostile positions towards Muslims in general and Moroccans in particular, the leader of the extremist party proposed to build a concrete wall around the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, and described the mosques as "factories for terrorists".
If the leader is seizing this case, it is because Spain will experience new legislative elections this Sunday, April 28 and the polls already predict a historic breakthrough for the far right, a first since the fall of Franco.
