Spanish Drivers Flock to Morocco for Cheap Car Repairs, Saving Thousands

Many Spanish drivers choose to have their cars repaired in garages in Morocco where the costs are very affordable compared to the prices charged on the peninsula.
Marcos, a resident of Madrid, owns a 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser. To repair a transmission failure and have the car completely serviced, his dealer charged him more than 4,000 euros. An amount he considers high to repair a 25-year-old vehicle. Thanks to a forum for off-road vehicle enthusiasts, he discovers that several owners of this type of vehicle take advantage of their holidays in Morocco to repair or repaint their car, as reported by El Debate.
Marcos had his vehicle repaired in a workshop in Tangier for less than 1,000 euros. A relatively low cost justified by the cheap labor and the absence of restrictive environmental legislation. The practice is becoming increasingly common. Many Spaniards cross the border every day to have their car repaired in Morocco, which has led to the proliferation of modern and traditional mechanics workshops in the Moroccan cities bordering Spain.
In these workshops, it is possible to change original parts with a guarantee, or even repaint your car for around 500 euros, which is not possible at this price in Spain. To go to Morocco, Spanish drivers embark with their vehicle on a ferry. Tickets for the Tarifa-Tangier line cost less than 200 euros. All in all, travel and repair included, Spaniards now choose Morocco to refurbish their vehicles.
