Spanish Driver Faces Attempted Manslaughter Charges for Ramming Rabat Hospital

The Spaniard who had rammed his car at the end of October last year at the entrance of the Cheikh Zaid hospital in Rabat, has been placed in pre-trial detention, after his medical stay.
According to the newspaper Al Akhbar, the 39-year-old madman has been detained at the El Arjate prison where he will have to wait for his appearance before the judge.
According to judicial sources cited by the newspaper, he now faces a requalification of his act. He should not only be answering charges of intentional assault and battery and destruction of other people’s property, but could also be prosecuted for attempted voluntary manslaughter.
To recall, the individual had burst in a dangerous and premeditated manner into the emergency department of the Cheikh Zaid hospital in a car, endangering the safety of the staff and patients and causing a deep state of shock to the nurses and a patient. He would have had a dispute with the establishment on the care of a relative and would be "known to the hospital service".
After being heard by the judicial police services of Rabat and then by the investigating judge, the defendant was placed in pre-trial detention. He should be heard again in mid-December, the newspaper specifies.
