Spanish Bus Operator Alsa Sees 21% Revenue Surge in Morocco, Driven by Record Ridership

The Spanish transport company Alsa recorded a 21% growth in its turnover in Morocco during the first three months of 2022.
Alsa’s turnover increased by 21% in Morocco during the first quarter of 2022, particularly with the Rabat and Tangier lines which recorded passenger records, reports La Información, specifying that the Spanish bus company also increased its overall turnover by 53% during the period.

These figures are similar to those of before the pandemic in 2019, when the company achieved a turnover of 3.2 billion euros and an accumulation of financial reserves of around 1.5 billion euros. The favorable situation of this first quarter of 2022 should continue throughout the year with the easing of restrictive measures related to Covid-19 and the resumption of tourism activity.

"Inflation is starting to affect many people and our bus company services offer a low-cost travel alternative to help offset higher prices for other products or services," said Ignacio Garat, CEO of National Express.
Economic growth will continue for Alsa, which has a fleet of 4,495 buses and a team of over 14,500 employees and serves more than 300 million passengers per year, according to the company’s data.
