Spanish-Born Rapper Morad Embraces Moroccan Roots, Faces Challenges in Spain

The first guest of the new season of Lo de Évole on La Sexta, the Spanish rapper of Moroccan origin, Morad, said that Morocco is his country, although he was born in Spain.

Morad El Khattouti El Horami, in his civil status, declared on the occasion of the show that Morocco is his country because his "roots come from there". "When I started singing, the banks here didn’t want to open an account for me. I didn’t know how to explain myself. They didn’t understand me," he explained during his interview with Jordi Évole.

Morad also talks about the values that were instilled in him from a young age. "Poor in money, but not poor in heart, in values, in spirit... Money is the only thing that is missing," the rapper proudly asserted, adding that music is his only "motivation". "What’s good about my music is that it has no race. A Spaniard, a Moroccan or a Latino can all listen to it and dance together," the artist specifies.

In his songs, Morad addresses topics such as racism, immigration and discrimination against foreigners in Spain. When Jordi Evole asked him what he thinks of the word " MENA " (Unaccompanied Foreign Minor), he replies without hesitation that "it is already a big word, it is an insult to cover a reality".
