Like the South American mafias, a new network of drug traffickers, led by a Moroccan and financed by Colombian drug cartels, has emerged on the Moroccan-Spanish coast, reports the newspaper Assabah.
Using submarines, the traffickers smuggle tons of cocaine to Spain from wild beaches in Mauritania. And it seems the drug barons are no strangers to these dives.
Before the health crisis, adds the same source, the Spanish authorities had intercepted a 30-meter-long submarine off the coast of Galicia. After traveling 8,000 kilometers from Colombia, the submarine, which was carrying 3 tons of cocaine worth $121 million, had sunk after colliding with rocks.
