Spain Seizes Over 700 Kilos of Moroccan Hashish in Ceuta Crackdown

Spain is waging a fierce battle against hashish trafficking from Morocco. In the space of three months, the Guardia Civil has seized more than 700 kilos of hashish at sea in Ceuta.
Spanish security forces have managed to push hashish trafficking networks to their last strongholds over the past three months. Arrests of drug traffickers and hashish seizures have increased in Ceuta during the period. On March 19, the Guardia Civil seized 173 kilos of hashish transported by a fishing boat from Morocco. A few days earlier, agents of the Armed Institute had seized 220 kilos of hashish in the rocks near Punta Almina, reports El Faro de Ceuta.
Similarly, the maritime service and GEAS seized 270 kilos of hashish in January, again at sea. Seeking to bypass police force controls, drug traffickers have begun introducing drugs to Ceuta from Morocco by sea. It is currently the most important entry route for hashish. Their modus operandi is to transport the drug in fishing boats from Morocco to Ceuta, then anchor at sea to allow divers to recover and unload the cargo onto other boats.
