Spain vs Morocco: World Cup 2030 Final Stadium Battle

Rafael Louzán took advantage of the 2026 World Cup to bring the battle for the 2030 final back to the center of the debate. The president of the Spanish Royal Football Federation believes that Spain must host the last match of the centenary World Cup, organized mainly with Morocco and Portugal.

"I have no doubt that there is no justification for Spain not to be the destination of the great final," he said in an interview with AS.

The official acknowledges, however, that the question cannot yet be officially settled. He nevertheless promises that the Spanish Federation will work to obtain the organization of this historic match, at a time when Morocco is also defending the candidacy of the Grand Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca.

Madrid claims the leading role

Rafael Louzán assures that Spain is already leading the joint candidacy and supports, according to him, 55% of its weight. A way of recalling the place that Madrid intends to occupy in the distribution of major matches, despite Morocco’s growing ambitions.

The president of the Spanish Football Federation also calls for preserving the unity of the project. The 2030 World Cup will take place in six countries spread across three continents, with Spain, Morocco and Portugal as main organizers, as well as commemorative matches in South America.

FIFA has not yet designated the final stadium. This decision has fueled rivalry between Spain and Morocco for several years. Madrid highlights its large stadiums and its historical weight in world football, while Rabat is preparing a giant stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca, capable of hosting more than 110,000 spectators.

Rafael Louzán also wishes Luis de la Fuente to remain at the head of the Spanish national team until 2030. He is considering extending his relationship with the coach, whom he would like to see lead the team at the World Cup organized with Morocco.
