Spain Urges Citizens to Prepare Emergency Kits Amid European Security Concerns

Faced with the probability of a war in Europe, the European Commission recommends that European citizens have a survival kit that can allow them, in the event of crises, to take care of themselves without external assistance for at least 72 hours. Fearing an annexation of Ceuta and Melilla by Morocco, Spain approves this measure.
Europe is preparing for emergency situations such as natural disasters, pandemics, cyber-attacks or even armed conflicts. In anticipation of these crises, the European Commission has recommended that European citizens equip themselves with a survival kit that can allow them to survive for at least 72 hours without external assistance, reports La Razón.
In this perspective, Sweden has already distributed to its population a guide indicating how to react in the event of a crisis or military attack. France has also published a detailed survival manual that provides information on how citizens should act in the event of an "imminent threat".
"It is a precautionary measure so that we understand that we are vulnerable and that we are ready to face these eventualities," said retired Spanish admiral Juan Rodríguez Garat, stressing the need to prepare for cyber-attacks or sabotage of infrastructure. "This can deprive us of access to our ATMs for several days."
The survival kit must consist of drinking water, non-perishable food, essential medicines, a first aid kit, a flashlight, identity documents, cash, clothing and blankets, and useful items (pocket knife, lighter and spare keys).
