Spain Set to Call Up Brahim Diaz, Ending Morocco Speculation

The coach of the Spanish national team, Luis de la Fuente, plans to call up Brahim Diaz for the friendly matches against Colombia and Brazil in March. The player of Moroccan origin has been awaiting this call for months, hesitating to accept Morocco’s offer to join the den of the Atlas Lions.
Brahim Díaz could play the matches against Colombia in London on March 22 and against Brazil at the Santiago Bernabéu on March 26, reports Relevo, specifying that De la Fuente is closely following the Real Madrid midfielder and seems satisfied with his club performances. It is therefore very likely that Diaz’s name will appear on the list of players called up for these matches.
The player of Moroccan origin has not yet given a favorable response to the proposal from the Moroccan Football Federation, which has been trying for years to convince him to join the Atlas Lions. His dream is to play for La Roja and De la Fuente is aware of this. "As far as I know, Brahim wants to play for Spain," the Spanish coach had said, following rumors suggesting that Diaz had finally accepted the Moroccan offer. Information that Diaz’s entourage had hastened to deny.
Diaz had not been called up by De la Fuente for the matches in September, October and November last year due to his poor performances at his club. But the young player is currently in great shape and has the confidence of Carlo Ancelotti. Barring any surprises, he should therefore be called up to the Spanish national team for the matches scheduled in March. De la Fuente knows Diaz’s technical abilities, as he has coached him with the under-19s and under-21s.
If Brahim Diaz maintains his current level of play, he could also be called up for the European Championship. After a difficult start to the season, the Madrilenian has regained his great form, scoring seven goals and providing three assists. He was even the man of the match against Atlético, after Vinicius’ injury. Since the match against Lithuania, Diaz has not played for La Roja. He had been called up by Luis Enrique, but had remained on the bench.
