Spain Pledges Support for New UN Envoy on Western Sahara Mission

The new UN envoy for the Sahara, Staffan De Mistura, can count on Spain for the success of his mission. The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, reiterated this on Friday in Rome, during a meeting.
The two men participated in the Conference of Mediterranean Dialogues held in Italy, reported the Spanish agency EFE, citing diplomatic sources.
According to the media, this meeting, the very first of the new envoy, which brings together the ministers of Spain, the United States, Russia, France and the United Kingdom, serves as a platform for consultation and support for the work of the United Nations.
On this occasion, Minister Albares reiterated the Spanish government’s willingness to "closely collaborate" with De Mistura to promote the search for a mutually acceptable political solution, in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council.
