Spain Invests €1.7 Billion in 16 Airbus C295 Aircraft for Maritime Patrol and Defense

Spain has just invested 1.695 billion euros in the acquisition of 16 Airbus C295 aircraft, dedicated to maritime patrol and surveillance. The finalization of this contract between the Spanish Ministry of Defense and Airbus Defence and Space follows the approval of the budget for these aircraft on June 20.
These aircraft will not only be used for surveillance. They will play a key role in improving anti-submarine warfare, reconnaissance and rescue operations of the Spanish Air and Space Force and Navy. Spain has negotiated its contract well since all these aircraft will be produced on its soil.
Beyond their advanced operational capabilities, these C295 MPA and MSA will replace aging fleets and significantly expand the spectrum of Spanish military missions. The MPA, successor to the P-3 Orion, will be equipped for a variety of missions, including anti-submarine and surveillance, while the MSA will focus on maritime and land operations, including anti-trafficking and rescue.
Versatility is at the heart of this acquisition, with highly connected aircraft capable of operating in collaboration with other platforms. This mobile command and control capability will strengthen Spanish military operations, offering unprecedented flexibility for an extended range of missions.
Finally, the assembly of these aircraft will take place in Airbus’ facilities in Seville, which is a very good thing
