Spain to Implement Border Controls on Moroccan Goods Entering Melilla

Goods traffic in Melilla will be limited from June 8, the date on which controls will start on the Spanish side of the border with Morocco.
In a circular, the Ministry of Health indicated that foodstuffs and products for personal use from Morocco will undergo a series of border controls in Melilla as of June 8, reports La Verdad de Ceuta.
The government delegate in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, explained that as of this Tuesday, goods from Morocco will not be able to exceed a certain weight, depending on the type of product. Regarding fish in particular, it must be accompanied by a health certificate signed by the competent authority of the country of origin.
Products of animal origin and composite products containing meat, dairy or colostrum derivatives are not allowed. Products without these compositions and stable at room temperature can enter Melilla up to a maximum quantity of 5 kg. The same applies to herbs and aromatic plants, condiments and spices, infusions and food supplements up to a maximum of 2 kg, and other products such as fruits and vegetables, up to a maximum of 10 kilos.
Travelers on foot or by car will have to respect this maximum quantity required, Moh said, adding that the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Melilla (CEME-CEOE) has already been informed of the measure during the meeting held last weekend.
