Spain Extends Morocco Border Closure in Ceuta and Melilla Until July 31

The closure of the border posts between Ceuta, Melilla and Morocco has been extended until July 31 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A decision from the Spanish Ministry of the Interior.
The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has decided to extend the closure of land borders with Morocco until July 31, reports EFE. Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has renewed a decree to this effect, which has been published in the latest edition of the official gazette.
A similar decision had been made on July 17 last year to fight the spread of the virus. Since March 13, 2020, the borders between Ceuta, Melilla and Morocco have been closed. The inhabitants of the two enclaves have constantly called for the reopening of the borders. Last Sunday, more than 500 people demonstrated near the Beni Ansar border post. "Open the borders," they chanted, before calling on King Mohammed VI to intervene.
