Spain Extends Closure of Ceuta and Melilla Borders with Morocco Until April 30

The borders of Ceuta and Melilla with Morocco will remain closed until April 30 due to the health crisis. This is what the Spanish Ministry of the Interior announced on Monday, March 29.
The measure comes into effect this Monday, March 29, reports El Faro de Ceuta. It is enshrined in the order INT/294/2021 of March 26 which was published in the Official Journal of the State (BOE). It is subject to possible modifications by the Spanish government in order to adapt to new circumstances or recommendations from the European Union (EU).
The text modifies the criteria for applying the temporary restriction of non-essential travel from third countries to the EU and the Schengen area due to the health crisis. For the same reason, it also cancels the order INT/1236/2020 of December 22 which defines the criteria for applying the temporary restriction of travel by land to the Schengen area via the Gibraltar control post.
