Spain Expels Moroccan Migrant Convicted of Multiple Burglaries, Bans Re-entry for 6 Years

The Tarragona court sentenced a Moroccan migrant, who burgled two apartments in one night, to three years and nine months in prison. Instead of the sentence, he will be expelled to Morocco and banned from entering Spain for a period of six years.
The young man of Moroccan origin, in an irregular situation, and therefore without papers, without a job and having no family in Spain, will be expelled to Morocco, instead of his sentence of three years and nine months. The judge of the Tarragona court has also taken a measure of prohibition of entry into Spain for a period of six years against the migrant. Pending his expulsion, the accused will remain in pre-trial detention, reports Diari de Tarragone.

On March 17, the defendant accessed the third-floor terrace of a building on Menorca Street, in the La Granja neighborhood, and stole brand-name shoes worth 82.80 euros. He then went to a building on Carthagena Street, where he was about to steal an electric scooter from an apartment on the first floor when he was surprised by a 77-year-old woman and her daughter.
The judge found that the defendant’s responsibility in the two robberies was proven. He was wearing the stolen shoes when he was intercepted by a police patrol.
