Spain and Portugal Pursue Joint 2030 World Cup Bid, Excluding Morocco

There will no longer be a joint Morocco-Spain-Portugal bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The two northern countries have excluded the kingdom.
Morocco is sidelined. Spain and Portugal are working to submit a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The Royal Spanish Football Federation has announced that the federations of the two countries will have to receive the green light from King Felipe VI of Spain, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, and Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The official announcement of this candidacy will be transmitted live before the Spain-Portugal match in preparation for Euro 2020.
These two countries had proposed to the Moroccan authorities and personalities, in particular King Mohammed VI, a joint Morocco-Spain-Portugal candidacy to host the 2030 World Cup. The kingdom is five-time unsuccessful candidate for the World Cup (in 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2026).
