Spain and Morocco Strengthen Security Cooperation to Combat Terrorism and Trafficking

As Pedro Sanchez is visiting Morocco, the Official State Gazette (BOE) has published this Thursday an agreement between Spain and Morocco on cooperation in the field of security and the fight against crime in all its forms (terrorism, illegal immigration, human trafficking and drug trafficking, etc.).
The published agreement was signed in Morocco on February 13, 2019 and will come into force on April 30, reports El Confidencial. Thus, the two countries will strengthen their collaboration in the coming weeks in the fight against terrorism, human trafficking and illegal immigration, and drug trafficking, among others.

This new police cooperation between Spain and Morocco will help prevent and fight any other crime and facilitate investigations. The agreement, signed on the basis of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation between Spain and Morocco of July 4, 1991, aims to contribute to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The agreement will remain in force as long as one of the parties does not denounce it through diplomatic channels. Its implementation will not affect other bilateral or multilateral international agreements or commitments to which the two countries have adhered.
