Spain and Morocco Agree on Return of 800 Unaccompanied Minors from Ceuta

Spain’s return of the minors with Morocco’s agreement is proof that the restoration of relations between the two countries is on the right track.
Morocco has agreed to receive the some 800 minors who entered Ceuta en masse on May 17 and 18. Following the agreement with the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Morocco will welcome the minors at the Martil center in Tetouan and take care of the family reunifications.

These repatriations agreed between the two countries are proof that relations between the two countries are beginning to improve, reports Europa Sur. They also show that the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, is working discreetly to strengthen relations with Morocco, as he stressed when taking office in mid-July.

Beyond the resolution of the diplomatic and migration crisis, the new head of Spanish diplomacy wants to establish new, more solid bases of cooperation with Morocco.
Although Morocco’s ambassador has still not returned to her post in Madrid, Spanish diplomats have been invited, for the first time, to events in Rabat, according to diplomatic sources. This indicates that the lines are beginning to move.
