Spain’s Foreign Minister Calls for Patience in Rebuilding Morocco Relations

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares assured on Wednesday that relations with Morocco will be consolidated, but in "tranquility, time and discretion".
"Diplomacy requires tranquility, time and discretion," said the new minister Albares during the installation ceremony of the last two general directors who make up his team.

Upon taking office on July 12 replacing Arancha Gonzales Laya, Albares had emphasized the importance of a rapid resumption of relations with Morocco, a "partner and friend" country, and specified that he would make this file one of his priorities.

However, the new minister’s first actions did not concern Morocco. For his first trip abroad, he went to the United Kingdom and on Wednesday he made his first official trip to Portugal. The trip to Morocco can still wait, it seems Albares is explaining by asking for "tranquility, time and discretion", the goal being to establish solid and stable relations with Morocco.
